The three most common types of Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCIs) in use today are:
- GFCI receptacles. These outlets have built-in GFCI protection and are commonly installed in kitchens, bathrooms, and other areas where water and electricity are in close proximity.
- GFCI circuit breakers. These breakers provide GFCI protection to an entire circuit and are installed in the electrical panel.
- Portable GFCIs. These devices plug into standard outlets and provide GFCI protection for specific appliances or tools.
