What Landscape Lighting Installation Involves
Landscape lighting installation means running low-voltage wiring from a transformer to fixtures placed around your property, whether that’s along a walkway, up a tree, or across a patio. The transformer steps household voltage down to a safe 12V for outdoor use.
This is licensed electrical work, even though the voltage is low. Correct wire gauge, transformer sizing, and weatherproof connections are what keep a system reliable for years instead of flickering or corroding within a season.

A lot of outdoor lighting gets installed by landscapers or handyman services who aren’t licensed electricians, and the wiring quality shows it over time: undersized wire, poor connections, and transformers that aren’t matched to the actual fixture load.
We design the layout in-house, our own C-10 licensed technicians handle the photometric planning, not an outsourced designer, so the wiring and the design come from the same team that has to make it actually work.

Permits for Landscape Lighting: Low-voltage landscape lighting typically doesn’t require a permit in most California jurisdictions, since it runs below 50V. If your project includes new line-voltage wiring to the transformer location, that portion may require one, and we’ll confirm this for your specific city before starting.
What Affects Landscape Lighting Pricing
Pricing depends on the number of fixtures, total wire run length, and transformer size.
Outdoor lighting needs occasional upkeep: bulb replacement, fixture aiming as trees and plants grow, and checking connections for corrosion after wet seasons. We offer maintenance visits for existing systems, including ones we didn’t originally install.
